Sembra una frase già sentita, da chi non vuol rischiare il contagio, invece è una chimera. Sì, una chimera per la Telegrafia patrimonio dell’Umanità. Il consiglio dell’ARI centrale, forse anche dietro i miei post su Internet che avevano inondato le varie pagine dei gruppi radioamatoriali, ha dato mandato a Michele Carlone IZ2FME nonché avvocato, di approfondire la possibilità di riuscire nel progetto. Già nel 2013 l’ARI si era interessata, questa volta Michele da buon conoscitore delle leggi si è dato da fare e ha spulciato tutta la normativa per inoltrare la richiesta. In via non ufficiale, dopo un colloquio con lo stesso Michele, ho capito che ci sono poche possibilità che la Telegrafia possa diventare Patrimonio Intangibile dell'Umanità. Sarà comunque la sede centrale ARI  a comunicare l’esito del grande lavoro fatto da IZ2FME. Io d’altronde non mi scoraggio e ho scritto una lettera aperta indirizzata a tre personalità che se solo spendessero una parola metterebbero tutti d’accordo. Ecco il testo che ho già pubblicato su FB sui vari gruppi Radioamatoriali, cominciando proprio da quella pagina che gestisco in qualità di manager “L’Italian Telegraphy Club”.

It seems a phrase that has already been heard, by those who do not want to risk contagion, instead it is an illusion. Yes, is an illusion for Telegraphy to became heritage of humanity. The board of the central ARI, perhaps also behind my posts on the web that had flooded the various pages of amateur radio groups, sent Michele Carlone IZ2FME as well as a lawyer, to investigate the possibility of succeeding in the project. Already in 2013 the ARI had taken an interest, this time Michele as a good connoisseur of the laws got busy and went through all the legislation to forward the request. Unofficially, after an interview with Michele himself, I realized that there is little chance that Telegraphy can become an Intangible Heritage of Humanity. In any case, the ARI headquarters will communicate the outcome of the great work done by IZ2FME. On the other hand, I am not discouraged and I wrote an open letter addressed to three personalities who, if only they spent a word, would make everyone agree. Here is the text that I have already published on FB on the various Amateur Radio groups, starting with that page that I manage as manager "The Italian Telegraphy Club".

Oggetto: Riconoscere La telegrafia come patrimonio Intangibile dell’Umanità

Sono qui per fare una grande richiesta. Non è per una questione personale si tratta di una considerazione ovvia. Ciò che la Telegrafia ha costituito per l’economia e le sorti dell’umanità. Per questo Vi chiedo di perorare la causa di milioni di Radioamatori che continuano a usarla per tenersi in contatto tra loro nel mondo, per tenere viva questa comunità . Come scordarsi come già fin dal 1870 da Porthcurno in Cornovaglia veniva usata per trasmettere messaggi per l’India e cosa ha voluto dire per l’economia della Gran Bretagna. D’altronde la telegrafia va considerata come la prima comunicazione digitale e di cui abbiamo reperti come il codice Marconi. I business men di adesso ne sfruttano appieno le possibilità. Quindi spendete le Vostre influenti parole perché la telegrafia diventi patrimonio intangibile dell’umanità.

Open Letter to the most powerful people in the world

Subject:- Recognizing Telegraphy as an Intangible Cultural Heritage.

I am writing to make a request. This is not a personal matter but rather one that concerns the millions of Amateur (Ham) Radio Operators around the world. For a large number of these are still using Morse Code to this day and it is their passion.

Morse code is still an effective way of communicating with others all around the world ,and it started from humble beginnings. Who can forget Marconi and his transmissions from Porthcurno, in Cornwall, to India in 1870, this was using telegraphy. What this brought to the economy of Great Britain of the time is immeasurable.

As such, Telegraphy must be considered the first ‘digital’ communication. As technology developed, so did communication but we cannot forget where it started. Today business community take full advantage of the technology which started life as mere dots and dashes.

So it would be an honor for us if you would consider our request and give this some thought and please consider making telegraphy an Intangible Cultural Heritage.
